christmas beausidde & boodles style

What girl wouldn't love one of these gorgeous, very 'beaudisse & boodley' Santa sacks?

They come in three fabulous designs, with contrasting fabric on the back and appliqued Christmas tree detail. Tres chic! And once Christmas has been and gone for another year, they can be used as a drawstring tote to take to the pools or beach, or when staying overnight at a friend's.

And then of course you will be looking for some equally fabulous things to put in them. Try our:
  • Girl's Pamper Packs - contain headband, scrunchie and hair clips
  • Lavender sleep masks - several gorgeous designs
  • Kid's card crafting kits
  • Funky kid's aprons
  • Stunning girl's sunfrocks

Look forward to seeing you soon!

Smile for the camera...

Very exciting week for us at Beaudisse & Boodles. With the website coming along full steam ahead we have enlisted talented photographer (and slightly humerous) Mike Worsnop to take photos of our skirts, dresses etc as well as our product photos. His photos are excellent - you can check them out at www.mikeworsnop.smugmug.com/ .

Spring has sprung!

Well, another market under our belt! Yesterday was a glorious sunny spring day, and it was surprisingly quiet at the Tirau market! Everyone was feeling it and the general opinion around the market was that as it was the first sunny weekend day we had had in a while, people were probably at home in the garden. While some stall holders were thinking about other things they could be doing with their day, we were making the most of the child-free zone (no 'I want...' or 'can you get me...') and taking the opportunity to brain storm ideas for our spring/summer stock. We seem to have some of our best ideas while we are sitting under that gazebo!

Other stall holders have commented that we should try the Tamahere market, but the bad experience of winter 2008 is still too fresh in my mind - the ghosts of markets past. We were the obvious newbys on the block and it was a cold, wet day. It wasn't until the rain starting falling heavily that we realised dad's gazebo that we had borrowed, wasn't waterproof. Well, that was what the Canadian tourists alerted us to when they tried to seek shelter from the rain. Luckily we had thought to bring a tarpaulin, so managed to cover our small table to protect our products, but it's difficult trying to sell things that people can't see! And then the wind got up. [NB - may pay to mention that when Jacs and I get together, it doesn't take much to send us into hysterics, so by this stage we were in uncontrollable laughter and hardly able to speak, let alone communicate with potential customers]. It hadn't occurred to us to bring anything to weight down the gazebo, so we had to stand as human weights on each side of the gazebo as the strong winds blew us from one side to the other and we unsuccessfully attempted to stay dry.

So I'm sure you can understand my hesitation when Jacs suggested we try the Tirau market.

Willie Nelson said it best when he sang......

"Blue skies, shining on meeee... nothing but blue skies .. do I seeeee....."

Its been a gorgeous (and surprisingly productive) spring weekend - managed to get several of our adorable new spring dresses cut and most probably managed to drink 6/8 cups of coffee still warm!

Have stocked up the shop at Alphra Lavenders with plenty of our product as things are already starting to get busy out there. Our lavender bonbons are flying off the shelves! We love working in the shop - there is a fantastic vibe that starts this time every year. Many of the regular customers start to appear and the tourists start to arrive. Mum gets into "tour mode" and with lavender shortbread close at hand its not long before she is educating bus loads of people on growing, harvesting and the benefits of lavender.

Definately worth a visit if your passing through the Waikato!!

Le marché ça marche

Far out - can not believe how fast this week has gone. The market went well last Sunday - it rained and we were waterproof and sans wind!! Yippee. Still quite a good number of people coming to the market regardless of the weather and we sold our products so that was cool. Not sure we have totally been accepted by the more experienced, diehard stallholders - its a close knit society. Oh but the laughs we have!!!!

Working on our website this week (and filling orders in between - thats got to be good). What I've learned is that the more I know, the more I realise I don't know! I'm easily distracted from it - I think its called avoidance.

Anywho, better get back to it - actually will have a cuppa T first.

Raindrops keep falling on my head

We’re off to Tirau market on Sunday and the weather is persisting down – yikes. Brings back a horrendous – no so distant past – memory of another market we attended. The weather turned against us on this particular day – at one point both Penny and I were holding down the gazebo from the random updrafts that seemed to be hitting us from any and every direction. The rain – oh, the rain! A couple of Canadian tourists ducked under our gazebo to break from the downpour only to announce that our gazebo wasn’t waterproof and quickly abandoned us for the water tight and secure gazebo next door. Our products were protected by a tarp we’d sensibly brought along with us – but the upshot from that was that our products couldn’t be seen and they turned in to a well kept secret.
Hopefully and with our new gazebo – apparently to withstand wind up to 120km/ph – it will all go well on Sunday. Our products are gorgeous – adorable skirts for girls, cosy soft scarves, craft packs as well as our gorgeous oilcloth doorstops and bags. It will be fab to get feedback and a nice pub lunch from the establishment right in the centre of the market – they do nice chips!

Welcome to our blog!

Well it's back to school tomorrow for our girls. They've had a great break - watching them sewing buttons and ribbon onto fabric cut-offs takes us back to our own childhood! It's great to see their enthusiasm and creativity, albiet at the expense of our sewing supplies. We were meant to be at the Tirau market today, but Jacquie is full of the flu, and we had concerns that our gazebo wasn't up to the predicated strong south westerly winds! We did make it to the inaugural Tirau market in July, and really enjoyed it. There was a really great vibe and feel to the market - I'm sure it will continue to be a success. We are aiming to be at the next one - the third Sunday in August, so come and see us! We're working on our website at the moment; we're hoping to have it up and running in the next few weeks. We will add photos of some of our products over the next few days so you can see what we've creating! Toodles From Beaudisse & Boodles
